Hi guys
I am chasing a copy of a production broadcast sheet for a hk 327 type 1 Sydney built car if anyone has one or knows where I could get one would be greatly appreciated

I think you will find that first type 327 engined cars did not have a broadcast sheet. The braodcasat sheet came in latter, some time in 1969.

No what it means is the car did not have a broadcast sheet but other means to tell the workers what to put on the car. There is a great pic of the 307 4 speed Prem that was built that has sticers all over the glass to show what had to go in.

I had a great find today.
My HK production broadcast sheet was inside the steering column shroud.
Folded neatly and in excellent condition, pretty damn happy to see it.
Check your December Dandenong cars people.

What a treasure and a fantastic find mate .. You are certainly doing the hard yards with the restoration correctness, so this lovely outcome is very deserved....Cheers to you.

I think you're right, someone with a 'sense of history' is the only explaination realy.
It would have been easier to just screw it up and throw it . . . . unless there was no bin.

To be more correct Wayne, a type 1.5! One of those limbo cars with Canadian engines but still not all the second type bits, and sits before GMH's published PSN breakpoints for the second type cars.

I talked to Ben about this, i'd hoped your broadcast sheet had handwritten notes on it for the fitment of the Canadian 327, but he said it appears to be a total first type sheet which is gold in itself! Awesome find.

During mid VN someone was folding the broadcast sheets neatly twice and placing them in he rear passenger footwell. Probably thought the VN would be like most other Holdens and the front plenum or windscreen would leak and ruin it if left in the front.

I worked as an Avis detailer when VN came out. In a few of the cars the broadcast sheet was neatly folded within the owner's manual!

I've had a week of learning about broadcast sheets here.

The broadcast sheets were produced refering to the parts in the 'Engineering Parts List'
The 'Engineering Parts List' is many hundreds of pages listing every single part and part number and also shows the history of superseded part numbers and any new additions.
The parts list had many different revisions as modifications were made, it was continuous during the production of HK.

Looks like this:


During the series-1 to 2 engine change it took several months to completely update the 'Engineering Parts List'
The majority of series-2 parts were entered on 15th december 1968 but certainly not all.

As an example the series-2 engine part number 2805978 wasnt entered until 17th April 1969, the carby 7029283 and radiator shroud 2809615 were entered 21st January 1969, radiator 2806340 was entered 15th december 1968.

The 'Engineering Parts List' wasnt always up-to-date when the broadcast sheet was produced so the correct parts wont always be shown on the broadcast sheet, as is the case with mine.
I would say the broadcast sheets were rarely 100% correct after a major change like that.

Byron I think you told me mine is T2 Bris Jan build.

Does that mean it is plausible for my car to have the T1 radiator shroud?

I am confused . Especially reading that T2 engine part number not entered til April????

Howdy Nick, my point is that a broadcast sheet for a series-2 HK327 would only list the correct series-2 parts very late in the HK run and only after all the updated part numbers were entered into the Engineering Parts List.

I'm sure the series-2 parts were installed as soon as they were available though and they ignored what the broadcast said.
My broadcast sheet lists a lot of series-1 parts but the car actually has series-2 parts in those locations.

I believe radiator 7437649 (superseded) should have shroud 7435372 (superseded), and radiator 2806340 should have shroud 2809615.
I reckon the shroud 2809615 was available about 1-month after the radiator 2806340 so you'll see some altered shrouds 7435372 around December like mine is.
That was at Dandenong anyway maybe the other plants were different.

I dont know why it would have taken so long to enter the series-2 engine into the Engineering Parts List, it dosent realy matter anyway because we all know it was installed in cars many months before that date.

I think its plausable yes, theres probably no such thing as a correct shroud for our cars mate.

One things for sure, if you did find a broadcast sheet for your car the radiator shroud 2809615 would not be listed on it unless your car was built a couple of weeks after 21st January 1969.
