Hi. I have discovered that my Brougham has foam rubber placed in the C pillars. Does anyone know why it is there? It seems a silly thing to do as any water that my find its way down into the pillar will be trapped and held by the foam and rust the car from the inside out.

I cannot think of any particular reason why it is needed and hence was thinking of removing it. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Alan

Broughams had extra sound deadening throughout the car.

Alan, You have to remember the Brougham was the first attempt at the luxury market for Holden and the idea of a chauffer driven car meant that the passengers were in a quite "space" in the back. they didn't design them for a leaky rear window thirty years later.
