Begs the question, do we know where the oldest (remaining) Monaro is? Or is that too difficult a question to answer over the different production plants?

Its always hard to narrow down info on these cars. Some people give information freely which can be placed in a spread sheet or similar for easy cross referencing, then others do not want to give info.

The secrecy side means that you will never really have a true picture of what is out there.

I know of several cars "under cover" that the owners do not want the details passed to anyone, including the Monaro register. So any picture that might appear is never going to be complete.

Personally I do not get it as the information on the body ID tag and VIN on a HK Monaro means nothing. The engine number and chassis number cannot be state secrets either as these were placed on rego lables when we had them.

There is so much hype about someone might steal my car and rebirth it etc etc, load of crap. It is true that the motor registry has your engine number and chassis number and if someone puts either into the computer they will have your address etc. But they will get the same if they put in your rego number. So if you are scared to give up chassis number or engine number then also make sure no one sees your rego number, drive without rego plates. The computer also logs every time the info is accessed, so if your car is stolen by this method, as soon as you report it stolen the computer will spit out every time your info has been access and by whom. So if pleb at motor registry or police force is assisting car thieves he is now in the shit.

If they do steal it they will need a different chassis number to rego it anyway.

Some people believe some weird stuff Warren, like vaccination is bad for children or you can get the flu from flu vaccinations. So not surprising that some believe that people will steal your car's ID and recreate it. Some people are stubborn and you can't tell them otherwise, but if a person chooses to keep their own stuff hidden that is their choice I guess.

But then they want to know stuff from the statistic that come from other people supplying information.

If everyone had the same attitude then there would be no information from which to answer the questions.
