Is this a mistake ?

https://www.australianmu...hq-ls-monaro-350-v8.html

Scroll along to the Body ID plate.

L30 = 350 V8
M40 = Tri-Matic !!!

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Can only be an error. Documents clearly show both the L30 option and the QU engine number, plus that BODY plate belongs to that VIN plate as Dandenong were using the PSN as the body number at that time. Can only be an M41 as there was no other gearbox possible for that car at this time. Being late 10/73 this is getting real close to the end of Dandenong coupe production too. Too much $ though for an LS regardless of what driveline it is!

Yes I agree M40 must be wrong stamped . Owner wants top $ for a car that has 350 stickers on the front guards , cheap stick on body mouldings and the engine .....headers . chrome aftermaket air cleaner , holley carb , but interesting to see the genuine sensor in the top hose ( not connected ?) this would be late type 350 with 250hp . Thanks Mark.

Any 350's after about 8/73 had that. It is part of the "clean air" engines. All it is for is to give the engine some vacuum advance if the water gets too hot, speeds up the engine idle and hence the fan so more air is pulled through the radiator. These engines are pretty much the final spec 350, they had the US spec emissions carby (rather than a GMH specific carb), plus less mechanical advance.
