Hi everyone.
This is my first post here.
I am restoring a 1968 HK Brougham and am trying to meet other Brougham enthusiast and owners.
I have always wanted a Brougham and now, although I have a lot of work ahead, the journey is started.

There are a few things I am trying to work out and find.
I need to try and source a 307 Chev and 2 speed power glide. ideally with numbers close to the production date of this vehicle.
Where would I start do you think?

Secondly I need to try and find a set of front seats, blond.
I know there will be a heap more things needed but for now these re the major things I need.
Any help or advice would be welcomed.

So starts my journey,

Matt

The engine you want will be governed by what assembly plant the Brougham is from. If I know that I can tell you what to look for. It is going to be a hard road for you. 307’s and ‘glides are plentiful in relative terms, it is all the unique bits that are hard to find. Plus any 307 is as correct as any other if it isn't the original for your car, so don't go nuts paying big bucks for the wrong engine! If it was me i’d restore it body and trim correct, but just use a 327/350 and TH350 with 9”. Will be easier and cheaper than what all the original stuff will cost you.

Hi HK1837,
Thanks for taking the time to get bak to me.
Appreciate your advice. OK I will do that, I will get started on the body and trim first and leave the motor and box till last.
So I need to fins some front seats. Any thoughts on where I could look for these?

How do I know what plant my car came from?
Does it say it somewhere on the car?

cheers

It's all in the numbers mate. post the firewall numbers and the plate numbers here and between a few of the experts they'll work out most of it for you. And NO people can't steal your numbers and make another car.

As KBM says for the assembly plant.

Is it buckets or bench? Column shift or console shift? Does it have A/C? If the power steering isn't there that isn't cheap. It all adds up and used stuff simply isn't around anymore. 15 years ago you could still find people wrecking Premiers and Broughams everywhere for all manner of stuff, but not any more.
