Hi all, sure you've probably had this question a few times already.
Looking for the correct part number / date code and location of both for the following, in reference to 1971 Sept built 350 HQ Coupe.

Intake manifold
Distributor

Thanks for your help

Pretty sure the dizzy is the same as most HK-HG with SBC design engine. 1111150. Specs are the same but for some reason those pre 1973 HQ’s are listed as 11111500 in the HQ service manuals. Could never figure out the exact reason for the number change, I discussed this a bit in the article in one of the Just Holdens back issues. From memory the final HG 350 manual cars with the Canadian engine list the same dizzy but listed as 1111500 (one less 1), but still the same specs.

^^That’s the one. I could never figure out why the number change from 1111150 to 1111500 when the specs didn’t change. The only clue I ever found was that 1111500 was possibly a spare part number in North America for 1111150, and 1111150 ceased being a production distributor by the end of 1969. GMH appeared to have been given 1111500 for the final HG engines and for HQ up to a point where they changed to a later US spec dizzy.

Cool, thanks for your input guys.
So the distributor I'm looking for is 1111500 with date code 1 A,B,C OR D THEN XX.
Is that correct, as I understand, most parts for 71 cars were up to around Aprilish.

Intake I think I've worked out as 3973469 K then 1 to 12. With a date code same as distributor?

yes dissy is 1111500

manifold is right 3973469 with K1 to ?

have not found date code on manifold but I will look closer today.

some people are selling K marked manifolds saying the fit HQ's but make sure on the pass/side there is only 2 bolt holes

in the centre were it bolt's to the head, not 4 as the extra 2 holes are for an A/C bracket.THe HQ's only used the head bolts for

this bracket.

Unless total concours is your goal just use one off a 307. Same curves and looks the same, just one less 1 and the extra 0 on the HQ one!

That’s the one, easy to find as common to all HK-HG except the last HG manuals and IIRC the 1968 Impala and Parisienne. Lots in the USA too, off 1968 L73 and there were huge amounts of them made.

Thanks for that, did not know about the extra 2 holes. Will keep this in mind.I thought there is a date code on the lower section behind the dizzy and in front of the part number.

Found the date codes one is D 23 1 the other is B 5 1.If you locate a correct manifold check under the heat shield for holes in the exhaust passage.Itcan be repair but costly.
