Please help Warren or Dr Terry,
I need to know the radiator broadcast code for a 186 powerglide H5 built hk premier...
I have seen AA on two cars albeit hgs and you see a lot of Toranas with LN...Any help would be appropriated...
 Thanks.

On a HK the last three digits of the part number were used to identify which radiator was fitted, so effectively a HK, from all plants, does not have a picking code sticker on the radiator.
This would make sense as there would only be three types of radiators, 4, 6 and 8, 4 for Torana and 6 and 8 for Holden. When LC comes along the workers would need to see a difference between LC and HT 6 cylinder radiators.

My records show HG first with it, but might not have a late enough HT sheet, and the code for 186 auto would be AD.

 Warren

Is that right Warren? For HK I mean. Wouldn’t there be at least:
 6 manual
 6 auto
 6 manual HD
 6 auto HD
 V8 manual
 V8 auto.

I’m not near parts books to confirm if these all existed or if there were any more as well. Not a huge amount to keep tracking by part number digits though

When HT came along you’d be adding in at least 253 manual and 253 auto plus 350 manual and 350 auto.

                But they used the part number on the radiator to determine which one to fit. Well last three digits anyway, according to the HK Production Broadcast Sheets that I have. There is also V8 HD, both manual and auto. 170 161M 611 161MHD, 186M 201 161A 076 161AHD, 186A 567 186MHD 649 186M AC, 307M, 327M 621 186AHD 568 186A AC, 307A 066 307MHD, 307M AC, 327MHD 067 307AHD, 307A AC 340 327 2ND TYPE Edited by user Tuesday, 1 October 2019 12:13:55 PM(UTC)

I thought there might have been even more. I wasn't questioning the use of the part number, but thought you were saying there was only 2 radiators for HK, 6 and 8. |

What I meant was that if a Torana or Holden were coming down the line there would be very little confusion about which radiator was Holden and which was Torana. |
