Hey guys, rebuilding a 253 and wondering do I need to use any form of sealant on the new welsh plugs.

no.. officially no

but being an old fart who has built lots of Holden L6 and V8 engines
I always use a smear of that magical Holden sealant (in a can)
when I install welsh plugs (in a new engine or as a replacement)

its the same stuff you use on headbolts that go into the water jacket
