Hello, How do you identify what model Holden a 3 speed crash gearbox originally comes from? Are there identifying numbers to look for? Many thanks for your anticipated assistance.

Good question. Dr Terry will probably know for sure. I’ve thrown every one that I’ve pulled out of a car in the scrap bin so never had any at hand to compare!

aaagh HK .... you missed out on the joys of rebuilding/recoing one Applause

stuck out in the country ( I broke one on the Bruthen- Lakes Entrance rd and the one servo in Lakes Entrance the car got towed to had a kit)
or
Saturday night... late (down out back of KooWeeRup near Langlang) and you are suddenly missing first gear Brick wall

and don't fancy a tow home (besides the new GF sitting in the front seat would not be impressed)

ps... eventually I bit the bullet
HT all synchro box (and Column and linkages and bellhousing) in the HD
and goodbye crash box rebuilds Speak to the hand

AFAIK the late EH to HK box was basically the same thru those model series, except for changes to the linkage levers.

The big change was from the EJ & early EH 149 to the lateR one.

The earlier box only had 4 bolts securing it to the bell-housing, the later one had 5 bolts.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
