was pulling out of a mates workshop yesturday and this young fell maybe only 18 roared past in an old 91 falcon i think it was, Anyways he swung a hard right and started smoking the rears and fully drifting round this corner. he was going so fast and hard that he didnt straighten he just did a big horseshoe and T-boned a parked Jeep that was round that corner. He ripped his bumper off and destroyed the side of the poor fellas jeep that he had parked there while he did a hard days work.. The young guy got out then he got swamped by the workers of the factory I felt sorry for him but i guess he learned the hard way.

I also had a young fella one day try to undertake me in a VQ statesman on the high way he was showing off and not looking ahead but right at me doing about 70km/h and didnt see the parked tray back ute at the side of the highway!! he was ok but both cars were an absolute right off!!

Has anyone else got some funny story they might wanna share about young hoons paying the price?

Havent you learnt anything from that guy that gives sermons at church?...Captain whats his name.

Years ago, young bloke in a 4 cyl. Daewoo pulls alongside in the left lane that ends.
Usual milo-tin exhaust, and half his body hanging out the window, gesturing to race him off the lights.
He didnt spot the cop behind him. I did.
When the lights the other way went orange, he began revving it & looking at me.
I flicked him the finger, and let him screech off..... and you can imagine what the cops did next!

My old house was near a T intersection in a very quiet residential area. There was a telegraph pole at the top of the T.
Local P-platers would come out of the street that was ending, and "drift" the corner - a drift which was assisted by the crown in the road giving them a camber boost. Young guy in his mums VP hooked it a bit too hard & smacked the telegraph pole with the rear 1/4. Pole didnt move......

Moved house to a corner, with a large uphill gradient, so most young guys hook it around the corner & boot it up the hill. Theres a few late model LS1s with exhaust mods that sound awesome heading up there. One not so awesome driver is a young plumber in a company ute. Id just put the green-waste rubbish bin out on the kerb one night, when he came around the corner a bit hot. Tray swung out over the kerb & smacked the crap out of the green-waste bin, spewing a whole load of grass cuttings out all over the road. He took off too. I went up & knocked on their door. His old man made him come down with a shovel, a broom, and a dustpan, and clean up every last grass cutting.

Only a few weeks later, he overtook a string of cars, over double lines, heading around a bend, on the back road into my suburb. I came over the crest of the hill to find his ute firmly planted up the butt of a lexus, which had been waiting to turn right. Because shed had her wheels turned, it was pushed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a charade. Cars coming up the hill had stopped to help the charade driver. I stopped, put the hazards on & went to help the lady in the Lexus. I offered he my business card & said I didnt see the accident, but only 2 minutes earlier I witnessed his stupidity, and also have my buggered green-waste bin as proof of his driving skills. Her response was "dont worry love, my husbands a solicitor, hell make sure he goes through hell for this." That ute hasnt been seen for a number of months now, so hopefully his boss has removed it from him, or hes been suspended from driving.

Only last week I was on the freeway in the 80k roadwork zone. As soon as the 110 sign came up, and it split back to the extra lanes, this VE SS nailed it. Cop was right behind him in a red unmarked F6 Typhoon. The way the VE kept up it suggested he thought the Ford was on for a race. Doing 110 myself, they were disappearing into the distance at a rapid rate, suggesting well in excess of 140-150km/h or more. His progress very quickly slowed when the blue & red lights in the window of the Ford flicked on.....

Cheers,

Mick

I was waiting at a set of lights when some bloke in a VN s***box proceeded to try and light it up turning onto the road I was on. He gave it too much stick and ended up facing the wrong way bogged in the sandy median nature strip. It was the funniest thing Ive seen in a long time.

Today I was at a set of lights already moving as the lights were green. I had 750Kg of sand in my box trailer which I had just bought from a place with a weigh bridge.

I was coming off the Monaro Highway which on weekends has a LOT of traffic to and from the snow.

About 30 metres after the lights its a "form one lane" Mr Skier in his Prado decided that he wanted past me so mid intersection he changed lanes but was not hard enough with his right foot.

The front of his 4WD was about in line with my rear bumper when he ran out of lane and I was making no attempt to slow down or swerve with that much weight on board.

The traffic in front of me was what was holding him up as we proceeded up the hill but his tyres were squealing as he pedalled past us on the next roundabout then slowed down to about 10km lower than the speed limit as he went past the fixed speed camera then sped up again.

To cut a long story short he was only about 50 metres in front of me by the time we got to the other side of Queanbeyan which at 60 is all of three seconds by my calculations which begs the question why?

Geez Jim, I thought it was going to end nasty, with him wiping out your box trailer!

It reminded me of an incident I had years ago with the car trailer. I was heading up to Hawkesbury swap, towing the (loaded) car trailer up the Northern Rd, and had just crossed over the M4. There was a left lane that ended (its now 2 lanes), and this clown in an AE86 twin cam corolla came belting up the left, his front bumper got to my passenger door before he realised he was quickly running out of road, and he tried the whole "Im so good, Ill wipe your back bumper as I change in behind you" move. Needless to say, he forgot about the trailer hed passed mere seconds before, and turned straight into it. He then hit the brakes, and the wheels & guard shredded the whole side of his car!

I pulled over, and was told in no uncertain terms that "it was all your fault bro cause you was towin this thing and you shouldnt be towing when you drive a car." I asked him if hed mind waiting around for the cops so I could be arrested for this so called illegal activity, and got a "no, no, no police, but you must fix my car that you smash"
He still wasnt getting that it was his fault, and he was very edgy.

I rang the cops, who told me they wouldnt come out unless a car needed towing, luckily his did, so they agreed.
While waiting for them, I found the 2 grease caps, and bent the guard off the tyres! 2 tow-trucks turned up too.

Before the cops got there, his mate turns up. I was expecting a confrontation, and stood near the towies just in case - but the corolla driver jumped in his mates car & they both took off! When the cops came, I told them the rego of the "getaway" car - both it & the corolla were registered to the same address. While they were taking a quick statement, a radio call came out to look for a "stolen red 1987 corolla hatch" - same rego as this one... The cop I was talking to just laughed & said they do it all the time when they have a prang and dont have a valid licence. He was rather keen to go around & pay a visit to that address, and asked me for a full description of the guy - including the clothes he was wearing.

I hoped hed get caught & cop not only some sort of neg driving charge (cop mentioned fail to merge safely as his fine) but also something for leaving the scene, and failing to exchange details. Never heard any outcome though, as I had no real damage & didnt need to claim.

Cheers,

Mick

I was a first year fitter and turner pulling onto the Highway at the kingsford smith merge at eagle Farm after a hard days bludging at college and i heard a very loud metal scraping racket! This council truck with 3 young guys who musta had there music crankin were cruzing down the high way at about 90km an hour. They had the bobcat and mini excavator on there truck but had forgot to put the steel ramps away and and were towing them behind the truck!!! There was sparks and people flashing there lights and tooting horns it was hilarious!! These guys muste been stoned or somthing not to notice and it was back in maybe 1999 so there was no traffic cause none of the mexicans or Kiwis had migrated to QLD yet so they kept on driving for a few kays down the highway. They musta crossed the gateway bridge like it!!!

Around 12 or so months ago I was driving along South Road near the Regency Park TAFE in Adelaide when I noticed a red BA Falcon coming at me from behind at a great rate of knots. This thing was flying and I could tell that there was no way he could slow down before he hit me.
I quickly pulled into the left hand lane and a split second he flew past me like I was standing still closely followed by some sort of 80s era Japanese import (dont know what it was but it was an older car not sold in Australia.)
I must admit that I was a bit pissed at these clowns and figured Id follow them and if given the opportunity, sort them out.
I followed as best I could without breaking the speed limit.
They got stuck at the lights at Grand Junction Rd/South Rd intersection and I could see them about 6 cars ahead of me. I could also clearly see the P Plate on the rear of the Falcon. I also got his rego number. I couldnt get the rego of the other car.
When the lights changed they took off and were bullying other drivers into changing lanes so they could continue their high speed cat and mouse game.
Eventually they got clear of the traffic and disappeared at high speed.
I lost hope of seeing them again but as I was coming down the bridge over Pt Wakefield Rd on the Salisbury Highway I spotted the Falcon up ahead. I couldnt see the little green car and never saw it again.
The Falcon got caught at the lights at Elder Smith Drive which heads into the suburb of Mawson Lakes.
The lights changed and the Falcon who was at the front of the queue took off and proceded to try and smoke the tyres around the corner.
He managed to get the rear end to slide out to the left and then over corrected and it swung out to the right. He was in all sorts of strife now and after over correcting again it swung out to the left and the rear of the car mounted the curb and hit a light pole smack bang on the lh rear quarter.
It was a bloody hard impact and absolutely trashed the car.
The whole rear of the boot was pushed about a foot to the right, the rear window shattered, the diff was detached from the car.
The thing was a 100% write-off.
I pulled up right behind him and realised he was ok as he got straight out the car to check out the damage.
I got on my mobile and rang the cops. I must admit that I did feel guilty when the operator asked if I needed an ambulance to be sent there. I should have asked for an ambulance first but I figured he was ok and was still pretty pissed at him.
I went up to him and asked him if he was ok which he said he was.
He was a very young guy. Probably not even 18 and he was very quiet and meek.
I asked him if it was his car or his parents and he said it was his. I said "well you certainly did a good job of it". He had to agree. :-)
Thats when I stopped being Mr Nice-Guy and told him that it was nothing compared to what I was going to do to him if I had caught him. I asked him about his racing the other vehicle and that I was the guy he nearly cleaned up. He was looking pretty bloody sorry for himself right about then.
I simply told him that I had called the cops and would be giving a full statement regarding the cause of the accident and his behaviour just prior to it.
I then went back to my car and waited for the cops.
The cops arrived and spoke to him. Im not sure what he said to them but there were no tickets or anything handed out.
When the cop left to walk back to his car I approached the cop and told him I was a witness to the accident and told him what caused it and told him all about the street racing etc.
It was obviously completely different to what the young lad had told him and he thanked me for the info and got my details in case a statement was needed.
His last comment to me was that he was basically going to go back to the young lad and throw the book at him.
There was a part of me that felt sorry for the lad as he did seem like a nice young kid but his behaviour and the speed he was travelling at put my life and those of other motorist around him in danger so he deserved all he got.
As I drove off the cop had him bailed up and was writing out some tickets. I gave them a toot and a wave. :-)
His dad had turned up by them too and neither one of them was looking too happy ;-)

Back in the eighties my mates and I used to hang around an ice skating rink here in Perth. There would often be a bunch of us hanging around the car park in our cars long after the rink had closed. One of my mates had a HQ coupe that was his pride and joy. In an effort to impress the girls he nailed it across the car park driving across the parking bays to avoid the speed humps. So far this was a good idea as the car park was deserted at that end...apart from the Datsun parked in the shadow of a large sign. He probably would have seen it if he had been sitting upright instead of reclined back lowrider style (looking through the screen at the road instead of out the drivers side window at the girls would have helped too). I still dont know who I pitied more, my mate, his Monaro, or the owner of the 180B! :)

Many years ago my father inlaw worked for TAA airlines as a bus driver dropping passengers into the city and return to airport with ones heading out well going down reardon st he has a unmarked police car try and overtake him with no lights on or reason to well with 40 people in the bus he wasnt going to move so when push came to shove the police car hit the drivers wheel with the passenger door they stoped and the bus continued for a bit till he opened the side of the police car up like a tin can haha
then when he got out to see if the people were alright he found 2 ds in it who said they had radioed for the boys to come and throw the book at him
His reply was well thats ok cause they can take 20 statement from the passengers on that side of the bus who saw it and could vouch that he was in the right
surprise .....surprise they told him no need to wait that no charges would be laid

Yes Ive done exactly that.

It was about 1989 and I was living in Newcastle.

There used to be a little spot off Hunter street which was perfect for doing u-turns.

I was chucking laps in my XD and swung in to do a u-turn.

There was this absolute babe crossing the road. She was an older woman (I was only 21ish at the time) and she would have been 35ish but smoking hot.

Im not exactly sure what happened but I know I had my eyes on her and not on the road and ended up bouncing up the gutter somehow.

She smiled and said "maybe you should keep your eyes on the road" lol

Couldnt argue with that.

Not me but my Cousin was riding his motorbike and having a perve at the same time that the car in front of him stopped for some reason.

The bike bent the cars rear bumper and he flew clean over the car and landed in front of it.

Thankfully no one was hurt but it could have ended badly. He decided to get a car licence shortly thereafter and bought a car.

Great topic Bundybluedog, but this is Bundy after all and that is a common event here every day and every night try crusing around in a limo around bundy at 2am and you get an eye full.

Slight change of subject...... the best accident I saw was a bike rider one of the so call pro riders (all the gear) pulled out of an intersection to climb a hill (quiet steep and not in bundy lol) he was so intent on getting the "power" to the ground he had his head down bum up and peddling hard straight into the back of a parked car !! Hit it so hard his front wheel buckled the rear tire lifted hit his head on the boot and fell sideways to the ground. They have the hide to complain that we as drivers ar a menace on the roads.

A couple of incidents come to mind. This one was back in the 90s.
Im walking part the drive through at my local. Our hero was one a borrowed Ducati, rather than his Harley. Still wearng the compulsary flat black open face helment

From memory he had swung by to see the girlfriend, who worked there.
Anyway our hero decides to make impress all by giving the Duke plenty of revs and shooting off into the sunset.

Alas, he forget he was on a bike with real go, not his usual tractor.
Up comes the front wheel, the Duke is now vertical, and he goes the length of the drive through, dancing with the bike, in thongs, desperatley trying to back off the throttle. He eventually succeeds, front wheel comes down, throws a leg over it and roars off.

All caught on the security tapes for the entertainment of all.

This goes way back to the late 70s. Had stopped at servo after the drive in. The usual crowd was there. stuff all open in Bissy at that hour back then. Young fella-so was I back then, on a Honda 750 also decides to make an impressive exit infront of the punters. And in front of the cops in the XC (told you it was a long time ago), daring them to chase him.

Lots of revs, up comes the front wheel. Down comes the bike. On top
of our daredevil. To crown it off, the cops then lift the bike of him. No ticket, just a lot of lecturing, all watched by about 100 bods, mostly falling down with laughter.

In both cases, no injuries except for pride.

awhile ago i was at a set of lights, and a vt pulled up next to me full of young guys, they started calling stuff out to me, and making disgusting remarks, and when the lights turned green they tried to show off, took off real quick and lost control, ended up going over into the wrong lane head on then must have over corrected again and went stright off the road and landed in a big boggy ditch! luckily there was no oncoming traffic as it was late! I pulled up and yelled out to see if they were ok to which the reply was "would be better if you were on my lap baby" so i just yelled back "that will teach ya to show off" and drove home!

I used to drive 100ks out into the country every day for work, and man did I see some crazy things on that road. But the best would have to be the young guys in the VS towing a car trailer. I will set the scene.

Come up on a line of traffic, maybe 4 cars long. Lead car was a caravan. doing maybe 10ks under the limit. Then a couple of other cars, then the P platers towing then me. Now first thing I notice, the P platers in the VS are towing a car trailer with the car on the trailer backwards. First alarm bells. Anyways I follow for about 5 ks just enjoying the scenery and not wanting to get to work too early. But the boys in the VS are keen to get things moving, they keep sticking their nose out looking for a nice place to overtake. Now I am not exactly sure what they were thinking, they are towing and have to overtake 2 cars and a caravan in 1 go. Anyways they find a nice downhill stretch and they go for it, they pull out and flatten it. Next thing I know is the trailer starts wagging its tail like my dog that has not seen me for a week. By now I am hard on the anchors as it can only end in tears.

I am talking wagging that takes up 2 lanes here, not your usual sway, it was a violent slap from side to side. Then the brake lights on the VS come on, they tried to brake, the trailer loved this idea, it over took the tow car and swung it around and smashed it into the guard rail. Ah the carnage. When the dust had settled, the VS was on its roof, the trailer had half mounted the guard rail, and the car that was on the trailer had cleared the whole lot and parked its self nicely in the farmers paddock some 20 meters from the action.

I helped out by dragging the VS front wheel (with struts still attached) off the road. Both kids were OK, but I so wanted to give him a lecture on impatience (and correctly loading a car for towing) but I over heard him telling another motorist that he had borrowed his brothers (uninsured) car to tow his broken down car home. I think the ass kicking he would have got from the brother would be punishment enough. Plus having to replace that hire trailer that he just destroyed.

I made a quick exit before the cops arrived. Afterall, I didnt wanna be late for work. But sure made an interesting story once I got there.

Ive almost been a victim of the dreaded trailer sway - twice!.

I bought a HJ Statesman a while back and for reasons I cant remember we loaded it on the trailer backwards.

I was on the way home and when I hit a dual lane 80km/hr section I accellerated to 80. As soon as I hit 80 the trailer started to sway. I was lucky enough to be able to gently back off and it settled down.

I cruised on a bit further and the speed slowly crept up again and off it goes again. This time it was a lot more violent and I was taking up both lanes and it was more luck than good management that I regained control.

Never again will I load a car on backwards. Actually Ive given up on car trailers all together. Ive got a couple of good tilt tray contacts and use those guys instead. With the increase in trailer hire prices, fuel costs, wear and tear on my car and my time I think its better value to make a quick call to a towie and get them to do it all.

On a similar note about 2 years ago I was driving north from Adelaide and just somewhere near the town of Lochiel I noticed a car (Ford EL sedan) towing a trailer coming down the hill towards me.
It was a long high trailer. One of those "move yourself" hire trailers.

As the car and trailer approached they must have picked up a little bit of speed coming down the hill and within a matter of 2 or 3 seconds the swaying kicked in and this thing was instantly unrecoverable.
They eventually completed a 360 degree spin coming down the road towards me.

I hit the brakes and my mate who was with me looked up to see what was going on and was also able to witness everything unfold. Our eyes must have been the size of saucers.

As the trailer sung around the rear of it missed the car in front of me (old F-100) by mere inches. It was so so so close. I couldnt believe it had missed.

Luckily there was an overtaking lane and he (and me) were in the left lane so the spinning trailer and car managed to miss him.

The car and trailer came to rest in the middle of the road after completing their 360 degree spin with no damage to anyone or anything.

The scary thing was that I was coming up on the F-100 and was building up speed to pull out and overtake him. If Id done that I would have had a head on with a large trailer spinning right into my path.

Unbelievable lucky for all involved.

We bought a HZ for $80 once. The guy was selling it as a rolling shell with no motor or box (we only needed some panels & suspension bits, so it was perfect).

Typical of a car with no engine, the front was 4 inches higher in the air than normal, but we still loaded it the right way (although being a roller it shouldnt have mattered).

The sway above 60-70km/h was so severe, that we had to keep it under 60km/h the entire way home and ended up going the back way through suburbia to avoid the 80 & 100km/h roads wed normally take.

Got the thing home, started working on pulling it apart, lifted the boot & there was a trimatic & a pair of red 202s sitting in there..... Rang the seller back ready to give him a mouthfull for his stupidity, and he just said "I thought youd want them as spares so I chucked them in."

Cheers,

when i picked up my HX we loaded it onto the trailer backwards because it wouldnt fit forwards - the front bumper was too low and was hitting the trailer or something similar, cant really remember. luckily for us the boot was home to about 250 kgs of spares including radiators, tailshafts, mufflers etc. that meant that the weight in car was almost even, meaning no trailer sway on the 100 km drive home
