HQ350 manifold vacuum fitting for Auto-Therm

My manifold vacuum fitting only has two outlets, one for the brake booster and one for the auto-trans. Its a late 74 HQ 350 so I'm suprised the fitting only has the two outlets. Do I need a three outlet fitting to control the Auto-Therm or did the Auto-Therm originaly get its vacuum from the rear of the carby maybe? Hi RigPig,
My Oct '73 HQ 350 has a 3-way vacuum fitting in the top hose, and I think one of these may go to the auto-therm (thermo-vac?), and the others goes to the vacuum advance and carby. So as the top hose heats up, the vacuum moves from one to the other. Can't remember exactly how it is set up, would have to take a look. I think all late HQ 350s had this fitting in the top hose, but people removed them over the years. If you need a photo PM me and I'll send one through.

I read an old post here somewhere and it stated:
"ADR27 spec engines entered production from 9/73 but not all have the trade mark two piece top radiator hose with the christmas tree fitting in it" . . . . is this true?
My car is 7/74 Acacia Ridge built and theres no sign that it ever had that vacuum fitting in the top radiator hose.
No idea where my Auto-ThermAC valve on the aircleaner snorkle gets its vacuum from, my rear fitting on the intake manifold only has two outlets.
The vacuum line from the front of the carby to the advance in the dizzy is hard piped, not a hose, so theres no place for a tee piece in that.
How many different ways were these ADR27 compliant 350's piped up?
Did different plants do different things? |
