Hi,I have a hx and the windscreen wipers wont return to their resting position when switched off,I have to switch them off manually at the right moment to have them in their proper position.Have tried two different combination switch stalks so thats not the problem, can anyone shed some light on this or have any other ideas. What actually makes them return to their resting place when you switch them off?

Thr factory shop manual goes into thisI thnk. Wll check. MyQ ones are the sdame. The return circuit is actually in the wiper motor and I think you have to clean the contacts or something like that.

Pretty sure this is caused by a faulty earth. Undo the brass earth strap & give it a good clean, then re-attach.

I bought a dead one from the wrecker for $5 just to pull apart, and the return is a metal-to-metal contact that would very easily get grease and gunk in it.

When I get around to it, I'll be taking my good one apart, and cleaning the contacts - I'm s

The wiper motor switches the "earth" side and this is why it has an earth strap on the motor and the switch itself.

the strap is for returning to the stop position, there is a metal cam that a contact "switches" until it returns

John,

I have found that just running the wipers with the arms removed and gently squirting WD40 onto the wiper pivot post as it turns back and forth will eventually find it's way down the axle and will lubricate (and get rid of that horrible grindin
