gidday guy's, i am getting my old 308 rebuilt from scratch. i will be running it on straight gas. i have been told it is best to give it its first start on petrol. this will be difficult because of the gas system. any thoughts????

straight gas is just that no petrol.
if you are rebuilding the motor I believe there is a gas cam and gas only carbs if the motor is set up correctly it should be no less powerfull. use a flash lube kit also for the valves.
