Can somone tell me the minimum HQ-WB front disk thickness.Reason being i dropped off my HZ ute for some break work today at an ABS franchise and was told that i needed new disks,as to machine what i had would have brought them under the 24.5mm minimum, fair enough. The problem i had was the typical pedal shudder from a warped disk and thought all they would need was machining and new pads as i had personaly replaced both disks last year with new one's from Hoppers Stoppers in Melbourne and they had never been machined!,so i didn't expect 'replacement' in the quote. The other thing also was the disks i bought were sold as being thicker than originals and hence capable of providing extended service and the pads were only down to around half,so i knew worn pads hadn't chewed them out severely. So i'm now wondering was i ripped off for new disks today or were indeed the original disks i fitted,as implied by the ABS bloke, just cheap crap that hadn't stood up.They were $75 each from HS when i bought them mid last year and i was told that they were not only cheaper than DBA's but also the same quality and thicker to boot,so i thought why not.I've heard of some newer cars with hard pads requiring regular disk changes but i didn't expect it for a HZ as in the past i've been able to get at least one machine before replacement even with a bad shudder.Any comments

Hi Carl.

Firstly I don't beleive the line that new discs were made thicker than the originals, they are made to the same specs.

Secondly without pointing fingers at anyone, there are a lot of brake workshops out there who just replace disc rot

Thanks for the reply Dr Terry, yeah i too thought at the time that the thicker line was probably spin, other than that they looked like originals and at $70 i thought why not.Regarding the new disks i probably should have checked the disks out myself but wh
