Hi I have a single rail 4 speed from behind a 302 or 351. I was told it was from a gt falcon but seeing as tho I lean more towards holdens I'm not sure of its origin. It has a twin clutch plate setup and is all there as far as I know. Can anyone help me out on info and also what its worth as it will be for sale as soon as I ID it, thanks

Single Rail boxes were behind XB GTs from 1974-1976.

They were also behind 250s and 302s

Pull the codes of the side of the box and I will try my best to decode them

FYI: Single Rail don't command anywhere near the $$$ of a Toploader.

This is a hard question to answer. My book with codes does not give the full codes for XB boxes? I had a 0503 008 which from memory was a 78DA that suited XC Cobra, and I paid $250 for it from Superoo in Armadale (WA) a few years ago. I just onsold it to my mate for his Bathurst Cobra for what I paid for it. Its condition was unknown, and it was just the box. You say you have a clutch set up, do you have the shifter and gearstick knob, bellhousing, clutch hydraulics and pedal box assembly? This will all add value to the box. I believe you can re-drill the bellhousing to suit Toploaders, which would make everything bar the shifter also suit Toploader.

It has the cluutch setup with the steel plate that runs between them, bellhousing, shifter

Hard to say with a price? As I assume it is not in a car and can not be test driven? Is the clutch new in the box or second hand? The bellhousing and shifter are probably the only things of value, most people just go for Toploaders instead. There is a guy in Perth on Gumtree that has a Single rail for sale, started off at $650, now down to $450. He is dreaming. I just sold a condition unknown Single rail with shifter and bellhousing only for $150. So yours maybe worth $200 depending on the clutch?

They don't seem to be worth a lot. I have a single rail out of an XB 302 van that was crashed in 1984 so at most it's only done 9 years work but will that make it worth anything? doubt it.

There are basically two types of Falcon Single Rail box the 6cyl/302 type and the 351 type which has bigger gearsets and different ratios which are worth more. I won't go into Cortina, Chrysler or Leyland variants here which is why I said Falcon single rails.
