Hello all,
My HQ tonner has a 5 litre VN commodore motor and trans. I have been driving this car for about 6 years.
Took it off the road about 6 months ago to freshen up tray anybody work.
I have not touched anything mechanical, and now it will not start. Cranks easily, shows faint sign of life but nothing.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks

Have you put any fresh petrol in it or are you trying to start it with what was in it from 6 mths ago? Check fuel filter.

The EFI 5L is very sensitive to stale fuel - they are a pig to start, but once running, will happily consume it.

But check the usual suspects like spark, injector clicking, and fuel pressure first. If you pull a plug lead off to check spark, make sure the spark you get can jump a good 6-8mm gap to earth - any less and it's weak spark, pointing to a dud coil. If you don't have any means of testing fuel pressure, listen for the in-tank pump priming (it should run continuously while cranking too). You can also squeeze or slightly kink the flexible fuel hose feeding the fuel rail to detect if there's a pressure change in it when you turn the key to ignition and the pump primes or crank the starter to run the pump. A long shot can be a failed fuel pressure regulator - the canister on the end of the fuel line. Without a pressure gauge, a simple test is to kink or clamp the line from the reg back to the tank, and if it comes good, then the pressure reg is stuffed (they do fail).

If you've got strong spark, injectors are clicking, you can hear the fuel pump running, and you can feel pressure in the flexible line feeding the fuel rail, then it's pointing to a fuel quality issue. I'd suggest draining the tank & putting 10L of fuel in it until it's run for a bit, then dump the old fuel back in, diluted with fresh fuel.
Cheers,

Mick

Thanks to all for your advice.
The fuel quality sounds like the issue, as it was running fine when parked up
Thanks again!
