Hes actually got another ute for sale as well. Its not too bad. It would make a nice hot rod. That XM is a shocker though.

There is a fellow on eBay who has listed a ZG Fairlane boot lid for $250 and the same cars bonnet for $350. The overall condition of the car suggests that the whole thing is worth maybe the $350 that he is asking for the bonnet. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/w...ewItem&item=170352736892 Complete with "bage" and dented trim. To his credit his other stuff seems reasonably priced.

The bidders are the clowns there the seller started them at 99cents. Note that one of the stickers shows the name of a Ford dealer in Annahiem California USA which means that these trims are probably not that rare.

Yes Ive got a set of those trims. I think that one has a slight dent in it but the other three are good.
I have not advertised them lately but did try to sell them for $120 including 6 wheels with usable tyres, 20 nuts and four centre caps and got no bites.
The trouble with NOS is that it ceases to be new once its on the car so pristine used is just as good if you can find it at the right price.
Unless its a part that wears then NOS is good.

First of all no i did not bid on these... Secondly while i agree some of the $$$ asked by some of the sellers are of the planet, some of the reactions on this thread to what buyers have paid for what they want are equaly out there with the space cadets. I have paid some extorsionist prices in buying the correct part for the vehicals i have restored, but i was willing to do that to get what i wanted. To sit there behind your computer and critisise someone spending there hard earned on somthing they considered worthwhile is just pathetic and small minded

I dont disaggree mate, if someone wants to spend ludicrous money on something then good on em, its probably something that they have been chasing for a long time and they just happen to be cashed up.
The main thing that pisses me and most other contributors to this topic are the sellers but specifically the sellers that bullsh/t the item descriptions to make what they are selling out to be some super rare or exclusive part.
There are no super rare XB parts yet if you look on Ebay youll see dozens of them listed as such. These sellers are the clowns and are the same blokes that bid on their own stuff and continually relist their items even after they apparently sold. They have so deeply convinced themselves that their XB part is super rare that they refuse to see it sell for market value, it MUST be worth more because they think its rare.
Of course what ultimately occurs is that joe citizen sees these items on Ebay "Rare XB GT sedan tail lights $300" and thinks "Hey, that means the old XB stuff I have in the shed must be worth heaps" and subsequently every tom, dick and Harry starts asking for more bucks for his junk, which is where we are at now.
Fortunately, the economic crisis has slowed some of these dreamers down but theyll be back soon enough. My tip to anyone that is chasing something that always seems out of reach on Ebay is get off your bum and go and spread the word on what you are chasing, try different avenues for parts searching, like the paper, clearance sales, auctions, swap meets, word of mouth, mates, mates of mates, and dont forget AMERICA! In many cases it is cheaper to buy something over there and have it shipped out here than to buy the same thing here! There is some bloke peddling an XB aircon/heater valve on Ebay here for $230, hes been pushing it for months, the damn things were on hundreds of thousands of cars in america and I bought one for $9.00 and had it shipped here for less than $40 Australian total.
Dont get too wrapped up with Ebay and its clowns, I just laugh and look elsewhere, hence I now have 3 Golde sunroof handles, 3 disk brake proportioning valves, several K code snorkels and so on, all from the US of A and all cheap!
If you are sick of being ripped by Aussie sellers, look elsewhere.

Further to what Craig has written this artificial bidding also drives the price up for buyers who see for example a NOS set of XD dress rims sell for $2000+ so they have been misled to believe that a good used set is worth about $1000 so they bid accordingly.
Those rims have a US Ford dealer sticker on them which indicates to me that these dress rims are probably getting around the USA by the hundreds of thousands and that you could probably find a NOS set there and ship them here for what a couple of hundred?
If a clown puts down a $300 bid on those XB sedan lights that supposedly will fit all XA/XB/XC Falcons (I suppose if you use a grinder they might) The the next unsuspecting buyer might think that he has to pay $300 to get a decent set.
Craig is right about the shipping of stuff from the USA. I want my Capri to look like an RS3100/Facelift model and the only part that I cant get from the USA are the front bumper with the indicator cutouts and the indicators themselves. They are easily sourced from Europe or NZ as all Facelifts there had them.
Still trying to get a bonnet out of the US because all of their MK1 Capris from 1969 right up to 1974 had the Facelift bonnet. Fibreglass copies of these bonnets are selling in Aus for $500+ second hand.

I think we can all agree this topic is not to be taken too seriously.
I have paid big bucks for parts that I have wanted, But that is my business. I think that most of the items bought up on this post are done so with good reason. I think it comes down to the individual, and unfortunately, some people think there s*** is worth something, whether it be coz they are a con artist or maybe they have been misled. Either way, I always look forward to new replies to this post!

Its a freakin filing cabinet with a paint job and a vacuum cleaner hose sticking out of it and you want $400 for it!!!!!!!! Notice he says in the description "Reliested due to not wanting to sell it for peanuts". What happened is he listed this on Ebay a little while ago, and surprise surprise it didnt realise the price he wanted, even after bidding up the price himself. As he has no negative feedback from the legitimate bidder one can only assume that the seller won his own auction, for a orange filing cabinet with a vacuum cleaner hose sticking out of it, and has re-listed it. Anyone desirous of having an orange filing cabinet with a vacuum cleaner hose sticking out of it is encouraged to go down to the local second hand furniture junk shop, spend $50 on a filing cabinet, drop into Bunnings and buy a sample pot of Poontang Orange or whatever for $5, grab a vacuum cleaner from nanas shed and bingo!, instant highly collectable petrol bowser! Be quick though, theres sure to be a rush on old filing cabinets!!!!
