Howdy,
I'm looking at fitting some new plug leads to my car (Oldsmobile V8). It is fitted with electronic ignition as stock and originally came with 8mm leads in 1978. Just wondering is there any benefit in going for 9mm or 10.5mm leads this time around, can you get more current flow or would the larger leads last longer? Any ideas? Not a Holden but GM motor but the principle is the same.
cheers.

Don't know of they last longer but they do offer better performance with new high voltage dissy & coil assemblies. Keep in mind if you have any dress Ht lead clamps/retainers that suit 8mm might squeeze in 9mm leads buyt possibly not the 10.5's.

you will find they run similar size cores but the bigger ones just have more insulation on them...so its mainly marketing BS that a 9 mm is better than an 8 mm...at the end of the day it is the coil and the plugs that dictate the voltage. I think an 8 wil

9mm leads will be fine. Where any one will want to use 10mm or More Is where there Ignition system is putting out some serious Voltage mumbo eg: Drag Racing.

Time span would be the same. regardless of brand!

The idea behind 10mm, 10.5mm is to preve
