ok guys i amd new to the game and would like to kno what is the diffrence between a 186 186,s and 186x2 i kno the x2 have thin carbies but thats bout all and i have herd stories about they have diffrent cranks and cams and berings ect ect but can sum 1 help me throught the layers of nonse and help me thanx

Hi DaMiEn.
The only real difference between a 186'S' & a 186'X2' is the inlet manifold & carbies.
Both use the same Block, Forged Crankshaft, Camshaft, Pistons, Rods Bearings etc. The head is the same (although HK/HT/HG 186'S' are different to HR). |

Dr Terry, the hktg s type twin exhaust headers have a heat pipe (or something like that?) on the side, X2 headers didn't?

That's for the auto choke as Terry stated the 186S had.
The other 186 is the 186X (or CK in later XU1's). These ran the high comp 161 head amongst other stuff plus had triple 1.5" CD Stromberg carbies. |
