Just become a member of the site, great stuff to read and helpfull information, especially from Dr Terry. I am building up a HG Kingswood for my son and we will be building a 186 or 202 with Blue crank and rods, ACL pistons and a Wade cam probably 30/70. We already have a WW2 and S manifold and Headers. Can anyone give advice on a suitable Head. We have the option of a second hand Yella Terra or building our own for unleaded fuel with larger valves and some porting. What stages of YT would be best for good Torque and Resonable economy on regular unleaded. We will be using a steel celica box which we alreay have.

Is Stage 6 YT too high?
If we build our own Head, who would do the best job in Melbourne?
On the rare occasion that we get to the drags can we boost HP with NOS and is it legal?
Has anyone fitted later stud pattern front discs and a disc brake rear diff unit to handle a bit more HP? We would prefer not to have to modify the guards on the HG to take different offset wheels.
Can the Blue crank take as much HP as a steel crank from a 179?

I have a head at home that would be suitable for your application. Email me and I can tell you more.

HQ-WB discs and calipers bolt straight on the front, but you will have to be a little careful with caliper clearance and brake line clearance. Don't bo

Thanks Byron for the info. It sounds like the best solution is to fit the HQ Disc and Calipers to the front and the VL Diff to the rear. The HQ Discs being ventilated might solve the current problem of overheating when having some fun down our mountain ro

Just make sure you get the VL axles redrilled to 4.75" PCD OR buy new HQ discs drilled with Commodore 120mm PCD. 4.75" = 120.65mm, meaning the pattern is close but don't try running Commodore wheels on HQ pattern or vice versa.

On the blue crank thing,

Thanks Byron, I gather HQ-WB is different pattern to Commodore. Decision will be based on whether we go for discs on the rear.
Regarding the Head, Does it come with any Valves, are the valve seats original size, does it have cast iron or welltite seats?

Complete head. Needs a clean up and probably service. Very oily and greasy. It's been sitting in my shed for at least 10 years, so it won't be an unleaded head. Head has studs so 202 rockers are adjustible. I think it has posi-locks on it. I don't know mu
