G'day guys I recently bought a v6, auto VR Exec and was a bit concerned because when I accelerated the gear shifter (for want of a better phrase, the thing you choose drive, reverse etc with) kicked forwards and when braked i kicked backwards. I posted a topic here but what I found was more interesting. I had a hunch the hand brake might be faulty so today I parked on a hill, left the car in drive and pulled the hand brake up and the car rolled down the hill!
So it's obvious the hand brake isn't working but my real concern is what has this done to the gearbox? It's always been resting in park instead of using the hand brake. Is this a common problem?
Furthermore what are some checks i can make on the hand brake system?
Any comments much appreciated. |

Hey mate thought i was the only one but my vr statesman does the same thing not to sure what it is just gota get it tightened or something so it will be interesting to see what other people say. Rich
