Hey dudes
I've got an XD sedan with all the standard issue steering and braking bits (front discs rear drums). I want to fix up these two areas of the car, plus possibly upgrade to the XF brake booster and the XF Power steer pump. Has anyone done this before? In theory it should work, but i am not completely sure about compatability. It would seem to me that if Ford have decided to upgrade these bits in the later models, obviously they are better units? And so if the XF bits are compatible, why would i go XD bits???
what do you all think? can it be done? and if so is it just a simple swapover?
any help i can get would be appreciated

XF power steer pump will be a straight swap. I know the power steer boxes are the same from XA to XF. I'm running a late XE tear drop pump on my XB and an XF box. Not sure about the brake booster but it "should" just bolt straight in.

i wasn't aware that the steering box was the same for that many models! do you think the tear drop pumps are any better than the earlier round XD model?

I know of three types of pumps. There was the big bulbous thing on the XA to XCs. Whines and leaks well. Then there was a plastic and alloy pump. It had a big wide mouth. Had one of those on an XE ghia and it was noisy as anything. The tear drop one

anyone know about the brake booster from the XF?? will it bolt onto an XD?
