Hello all, well the cyclone was a set back but keen to get back to work!! Just seeing if there is any way to setup my EH fuel tank so it will work with the VN commy fuel gauge (V6 EH Ute) I can cut the rear up and fit the VN tank into the Ute (using the VN sender and pump) but just checking if there was a way to make the EH sender work with the VN gauge?? I have the VN cluster fitted into the EH and not keen to either make a custom cluster (VN Speedo and EH fuel gauge) or cut the rear to fit the VN tank. The fitting of the tank has been done before but as mentioned....... not looking forward to it!! So is there an easy way to make the VN gauge work with the EH sender?? Any options..........?? Cheer's for any Info guy's.

Do you know the resistance range of the EH fuel sender? It should be in the workshop manual.
Compare it to what the commodore uses: Full: 35-40 ohms 1/2: around 100 ohms Empty: around 290 ohms

Hi Guys.
Unfortuneately, the EH has a different resistance value & also works in the opposite direction.
Full - 30 ohms Half - 15 ohms Empty - O ohms.

Geez, that's a bummer!
Perhaps you can pull the EH sender out & see if you can adapt the resistive strip from a commodore unit into it? Might be easier than changing the tank to achieve the same thing!
BTW: what are you using as a swirl pot if you |

Thanks Dr and Mick, Shame the EH is not fail to empty we could have worked with that. I'm hoping to try some electronics to work off the EH sender and drive the VN gauge, now that I know the ohms....... my senders from both tanks have been blown around Edited by user Friday, 12 May 2006 1:01:38 PM(UTC)

That sounds like a very well planned project. I think I may have sent you an email some time back (12-18months ago?) with some tips too?
Personally I'm a big fan of using factory bits wherever possible - for the simple reason that replacement is just |

Thanks Mick........ mate do you sleep?? Yep I sent you a message when I was looking at LPG for the V6. ATM I want to keep it on straight fuel as there are mob's making LPG injection kits but I will wait till they come out and see how they go. If I have

Retro,
Have you tried a boat builder for your tank? They may be able to make up an alloy one in any configuration you desire.
Also, Andrew at Streetneat Rods and Customs in Thornlands on Brisbane's southside knows a guy who does enlarged fuel tanks

Qute, mate I did chat to Andrew about the tank but the EH ones are the most hard to remake. They guy doing them wont touch them, he's making other models but not EH. Instead Andrew

Mate, the VL unit bolts in with 5 bolts like VN-VS.
You'll be best off using a VK EFI one, as they still rotate into a fitting - like HQ-WB, and I would assume the EH is similar - if not the same size fitting.

Yep the EH is a twist type and even if I had to remake the VK unit to fit in the EH hole, still better than making a complete new tank. Mounting a lift pump outside the EH tank would put it near the

Hi again.... well in between selling off all my ricer gear and rebuilding the fireblade I have got back to working on the EH tank setup. ATM I've decided to cut the tank and weld the VN sender/pump section in half way up the EH tank, but only as a sender

It all seems complicated. I simply mounted a VL pump on the rear chassis member just below the level of the tank, fitted an EFI filter after the pump, a cheapo filter at the tank outlet to protect the pump (it is not under pressure here) and a return fuel

Cheer's but I need to keep everything up under the tray, nothing below the tank. And due to many things I need a commy sender and also a surge tank. So will a VL external pump work if mounted above the lower level of the fuel tank or does it need to be b

It works fine but you have to be aware that if you let the fuel level drop too far you may not have fuel pick up. Also the pumps can burn out or maybe explode if run dry for any length of time so it is important to keep the tank level up. This is why the
