Hi i recently bought a monaro coupe shell that sits on a HZ chassis rail (can tell by the HZ at the start of the number stamped on the chassis rails right near the steering box). The tags had been removed due to rust and 1 was lost but it came with the other 2, the long skinny one
with a serial number on it (vin?) and the larger rectangular one that states holden coupe, date, ADR's etc. The plate that usually has the holden body code, trans code, trim code, etc is missing. Is this required for registration? Also because it is sitting on a HZ chassis does this come into play at all?

Thanks!

I believe that only comes in to play for a full length chasis, eg, ute, tunner or panelvan but not for a subframe it goes by the body id.

Hi Guys.

That's a new one on me.

AFAIK the RTA (& Police) always use the number that's stamped into the body or chassis & repeated on the ADR Compliance plate. In the case of HQ to WB that number is the one stamped next to the steering box (full cha

That's right Terry. Even on an EH, when you change the subframe, and the stamped number along with it, the RTA wants to re-register the car under the new chassis number.

Send me the VIN (off the skinny plate) and unless it's a very late HQ from Elizabeth I should be able to get you what engine, diff, gearbox and accessories etc it had fitted when new.

The funny dilemma your vehicle puts the registry dept in your state
