I have a 4-71 ZD Fairlane that has 2 id numbers stamped on the spring tower. The car was bought by my father when it was less than 12 months old and is still running the same engine. It is a 302 windsor (I thought all ZD's had clevelands)engine no. JG37LE619624K. This number is stamped on the spring tower & crossed out.The number JG37LE72755K is stamped next to this number and matches the compliance plate. All the codes on the compliance plate match the car.ENG.Y(302)TRANS.B(FLOOR SHIFT AUTO)PAINT.9(NUGGET GOLD)TRIM.S2(SADDLE WITH CLOTH INSERT) Its got everyone I have spoken to in the last 10 years buggered. If someone has any idea why it could be like this please let me know.

Probably most likely the guy doing the stamping on the tower back in 71 stuffed up. There are actually quite a few of the old Fords getting around with not quite right compliance plates. Your shocky tower is an extreme case having 2 full sets of numbers

Oh yeah, from memory, the 351 windsor was gone in 71 but they kept the 302 windsor until the 302 clevo came online.
