Hi fellas,

I am going to fit a blue crank to a red 202 and fit to my LC Torana. In the future I want to convert from Opel gearbox to Supra W55 gearbox. I was told the fly wheel for the blue crank is different from the red motor fly wheel. Will this cause a problem when converting the gearbox?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The difference is the blue flywheel is lighter, because the blue crank is so much heavier. The gearbox wont know the difference, you will still have the same clutch plate and spigot bush when you change the gearbox.

The blue 6 uses the bigger 9.5 inch clutch from the red 253, and to run the blue flywheel will require you to run the larger pressure plate & clutch plate from a blue 202.

The black flywheel is different it has a peg in it to locate the flywheel/torque plate for the EST ignition. This peg can be removed. But it does help to use the hole the peg leaves to locate the flywheel/torque plate to its original position.

Thanks a lot for the info fellas.

I'm in no rush to get this Torana on the road again, and I'll try to get the bits and pieces I need for the gearbox conversion on eBay. What sort of bell housing will I need between a red motor with blue crank and Supr

You'll need a special one to suit, which is available from the likes of CRS, Dellow, and probably a few others by now too.

Buy one for a blue 6 - it will be a cable clutch & have enough internal clearance for the larger clutch.

The Torana currently has a mechanical clutch. So I'll also need to convert to a cable clutch?

I guess for you blokes who do this stuff all the time that is not a problem. For me, it's yet another complication. Ah well! One step at a time.
