To get straight to my problem everytime i fill up my petrol gauge only shows as its half full..

anyone else experienced this ?

ive been told its either the connection to the gauge or could be the float in the tank is cracked..

are these common problems ?

You can get new sender units from Rare Spares, that may resolve your problem.

Yes, they are both common problems. We had a post on this a few weeks ago (actually on the differences between the early and late HQ senders, IIRC) so it may be worth looking that post up as how to test the gauge and sender was discussed in it.

yes its a problem with my ute too but i fixed it myself it was the gauge. in it is a power regulator that was burnt a little so check that. good luck mate
