what is needed to put a tailgate from a hg ute onto a hg panelvan.there is an extra inch or more a metal it looks like on top of the tailgate, which would prevent it from closing, is it possible to cut this out and weld the seem together,is that the only difference???

Hi hgute/pano.
The only difference between the 2 tailgates is the small (1" x 1") bit of metal in each top corner of the panel van tailgate that is cut out to clear the van's rear pillars.
