My question relates to the actual surround of the badges; that is, the sides where the cut-outs are for the grille bars to sit in.

Is that surround section supposed to be silver or black, or does it depend on what medel in the range it came from? I have two HQ grille badges, one of each.

I have an LS with the silver grille and its badge and although the one with the black surround is in better condition than the silver one, it looks a bit out of place.

Any advice greatfully accepted.

Thanks. Gerard.

The "holder" of the badge is the same for all models and should be chrome.

Thanks Warren. I have the thin chrome surround on both badges, but are you saying the 1 inch-deep die-cast surround behind that should be chrome? My original LS one is the same colour silver as the grille bars, and the other badge (in better condition)

The black one could have been painted up by someone, as for the inserts(blue/black background) in an earlier posting I sent pictures to Greg, product manager at Rare spares, He is looking further into it and says its possible they came from different sup

thanks for the replies. My black one doesn't look like it's been painted. It looks like it was made that way. perhaps its from an SS, which would have had a black grille!

The original GM drawings do not clearly show there was a black or blue surround, however they do state the Lion is to appear floating on a black background. It appears this is the case with both badges you describe. The parts books don't seem to have any va

I have no problem with the insert itself. That is the same on both badges. Its only the surround with the cut-outs where the grille bars fit in that are different between them.

Thanks for the info. I'll watch out for further posts from you that may
