Hi cocko.
All Holden V8 heads are interchangable with all blocks as long as they have their correct (matching) manifolds & cam etc.
Another one to watch is, if fitting EFI heads to an old 253 with a bigger cam, watch for valve to bore clearance.

EFI heads have 2 extra bolts that don't have holes in early blocks, but they aren't critical.

i think you have that backwards commodornut. isnt it that the pre vn blocks have two extra holes that arnt used when you put vn onwards heads on? So you would have two less bolts on a vn onwards head? pre vn has a total 0f 12 bolts and post vn have 10

Aren't they the 2 on the inside that have a lower torque setting value so most of the thread bosses are broken off on the early blocks (people try to do them up to the same tension as the rest of the bolts...)?
Cheers...Dave

Thems the ones QUTE.................You dont use those 2 holes when using the efi heads on pre efi heads. I dont even think the efi blocks have the holes drilled out but the landing is still cast into them ..

Yeah, that was it.....the 2 bolts....
Too long at work, then a rush straight to the dealer for a VE night, and then coming home to 16 work emails must have stuffed me....
