HI red.
You have the age-old problem of the M21 having a tall 1st gear, in a heavy car (HQ) & lack of low-down torque (253). This is the reason that GM-H usually only fitted the M21 to 308s. The problem will be worse if the engine has a non-standard ca |

Dr Terry's point is very important - you must be careful with your diff ratio selection with an M21 behind a 253. That cannot be stressed enough. Starting from scratch I'd select an M22 with a 2.6:1 or 2.78:1 diff, but as you already have the M21 follow T |

There is no difference in strength between the various ratio versions of the Aussie 4-speed gearbox. M20, M21 & M22 Aussie 4-speeds only differ in their ratios, all have the same strength.
The M20 ratio box was st |

Yes but they are dissapearing quickly. You can convert either your M21 or M20 to a V8 M22 by using the cluster and 3rd gear out of a 6cyl M22 and the input shaft & dust cover from a V8 3-speed. The rest of the box is the same. |
