I'm looking for some info on VB/VC SL/E commodores. Basically I'm wondering if they came standard with a manual gearbox behind the 253 or 308. Any help appreciated.

They sure did. I've seen plenty of VB SLE L31 M21 Commodores. These were the peak of performance when VB was first released. The very first Brock Commodores were also just modified VC SL/E's in 308 M21 or TH350.

Hi Guys.

I know I get a bit picky, but the question was did they come standard. Well no, they didn't. All SL/Es got the auto trans standard, if you wanted a 4-speed you had to order an option pack (Called a 'Sports Pack'). In the VB series these were 3
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Thanks guys, much appreciated. There seem to be quite a few autos around but guess I'll need to look under a few more rocks for an original manual.

Dr Terry,

Does a 310 pack include the 4 speed box or is it possible for a 310 to still be an auto?

From the listing I have, these are the V8 VB SL/E packs:

306 = 253 auto
308 = 253 manual
309 = 308 manual
310 = 308 auto

Cheers,

Mick
