I have recently bought a 2006 WL Statesman International 6 Litre. I've noticed an annoying vibration in first gear from rest - lasts for a few seconds then again as it drops into second - again only for a few seconds. The car only has 5,500 kms on it.

Any ideas?

It will still be covered under the new car warranty so take it back to your dealer. If you have no joy there, take it to another dealer.

Cheers,

Mick

Thanks Mick,

I actually have it booked in to a dealer on Friday - I was after something to counter their inevitable conclusion that "they all do it" which is not the case - I also have a 5.7 litre CV8 Monaro which is as smooth as. I assume the hardware

The transmission/driveline in your stato is virtually the same as the one in your monaro the transmission just runs a different calibration and should be smoother than the monaro if anything, I work at a dealer and no they don't all do it

My guess would be the exhaust. Most Holden Gen3/4's have some vibration in them, particularly at lower revs. If you (or Holden) free up the exhaust a little bit, the vibes seem to disappear. Maybe your car has an exhaust that has a bad (restrictive) bend
