Guys,

I'm doing up a 1955 FJ Ute. I've had a new engine (Toyota 1UZFE - 4.0L V8) and transmission installed, some other things done in, around and underneath the car, and its come time to (finally) get it registered in NSW. I've already had it inspected for its blue slip, and unfortunately it failed. I've got almost everything fixed since that time, but there's a couple of outstanding items that I'm hoping you guys might be able to help with so I can finally get it on the road!

1. The inspector couldn't find the chassis number. I pointed out to him the plate that is fixed to the firewall which quotes the chassis number, but he said that the number need to be marked on the car somewhere (not just on a plate). Do you know where this number might be? Or has anyone run into similar problems?

2. The ute is fitted with a windscreen washing system, but the previous owner never had the lines + nozzles installed. So the system could never actually spray on the windscreen. At first this never bothered me, but the inspector told me since I've had the engine upgraded, other areas need to be upgraded to suit (including the windscreen washing system). Do you know where I could get these lines installed?

Any info or help you guys can offer would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Hi astott9.

The plate on the firewall does not have the chassis number, it has the GMH body number. The chassis number on FJs is on a small plate welded to the RH (driver's side) chassis rail between the 2 cross-member bolts. You might have to remove s
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
