Hi after putting chev into hq and a SHORT TAIL th400 I tried to put a floor shifter in. But the trans is quite close to the floor and the linkage that comes out of the shifter hits the trans.. I have standard hq 6 clinder cross member with the rubber mount from my old 3 on the tree gearbox.. The rubber (and steel) gearbox mount in bolted to the th400 and ive put 2 bolts thew the cross member into the rubber mount. The engine mounts ive used im dont no much about as I got from the paper.. Is this a normal problem with short tail th400 or have I got a wrong part in there any advice appreciated. The only way round it I can see is either somehow drop the trans lower?? Or the bar that comes out of the shifter bend it out to clear the side of trans. Its a factory shifter from a trimatic which ive taken apart and turned around for the th400.. Well so far its as Byron Rich said the rubber mount between the cross member and the trans is different on the 6cly 3 speed gearbox as to what I need. The th400 one is 40mm high and my old one is 50mm. 39bucks nz at rare spares.Yeah.. I guess the cross |

If there still isn't sufficient clearance you can lay the crossmember across two bricks and jump on the middle to bend it 1/2 inch or so. If you're not heavy enough find someone who likes beer a lot to do it for you! I have seen this done before, but you |
