Hi guys can anyone tell me what the difference is in the counterweighted crank and the ordinary one and which is better for a performance build up. Dave

Personally I would use the red crank as it is lighter, therefore picks up revs quicker, and with a dynamic balance the torsional vibration issues are relieved.
Remember Bathurst was won by Brock in a Torana with a red 202. |

I disagree. The blue crank is much better for street use as it allows for better torque production which is what you want for the street, regardless of how high performance you think you want it to be.

Byron can you tell me why some blues have the big balancer and other don't? The engine i have is in my sons LJ GTR has a big balancer crank and the starfire rods with 10.5 duralite pistons with a 32 70 hyd ivan tighe cam and has a yt head yt rollers 350 |

Hi Dave.
It's only the 3.3 (202) Blue motors that get the counterweighted crank and the thicker balancer. The 2.85 (173) gets the plain (shorter stroke) crank and the thinner balancer. With so many balancers being replaced by inexperienced mechanics ov |
