just wondering when taken out of a car, how do you tell if a shock is still in good working order? should it rise slowly or not rise at all unless pulled? thanks.

Push the shock down and if it is a gas one it should rise completly on its own if not it is buggered. If it is not gas then pump it up and down and the feeling should be a nice smooth stroke. If you can feel like an air bubbly feel and this will not go aw

Bob Jane or similar larger tyre specialists can check them on your car, and give you a report.
