Does anyone know what the cost would be to simply program a new central locking key? Holden VX Commodre. Thinking new as a whole new remote and key from Holden would set me back $120. Can get remote from ebay for $40, Key for $5. Just need programing cost. Thanks |

I thought you had to ring Holden with your VIN number to get the BCM number (is sometimes in your vehicle user manual) and then go to somewhere like Mister Minit (or Holden) and get them to program it.
I know the Ford remotes can be programmed by simpl

We use an X431 scanner to program keys. On a VX it will tell me how many keys have already been coded to that car and a few other things too.

Hi Guys.
The remote key head for VR onwards Commodores does require a scanner to recode. VR to VX can use any aftermarket scanner, while VY onwards is a little more complex, some aftermarket scanners cannot do them yet.

I recently bought a black head off ebay for my VS for about $25 then went to Mr Minit and got it programmed for another $25. It didn't work. So they cut me a new T-bar + head (cause they said the ebay one was stuffed since it had been coded and the butt Edited by user Friday, 19 January 2007 8:00:38 AM(UTC)

I'm always wary of the Ebay keyheads, as you cannot guarantee they haven't been used.
The MrMinit ones are programmed in such a manner that they are a "write once" keyhead, that will draw the code out of the BCM and program themselves, but you MUST hav |

Hi Guys.
The genuine Holden key head is a 'write once' unit. Once it has been programmed to suit a particular car, it cannot be reprogrammed to suit another. Buying a key head off ebay is very risky, most of the time they cannot be reprogrammed. You've |
