I used the VHT high temp paint on my tri-y's on a chev 400, and it seemed to work ok. After a couple of years, no signs of breakthrough, and only a bit of chipping (easily touched up).

I have also heard of people spraying heat proof paint on the inside of the extractor too as they swear that it also helps protect the paint on the outside.

Bloke in an auto-shop once tried to tell me that standard VHT high temp isn't actually a high enough temperature rating...
The exhaust guy I used said that if I ever want my extractors coloured, they can take them off and send them away for some sort o

Ceramic coating is what's on my exhaust. Lasts for ever.

VHT has always worked OK for me. Main thing is just like any other paint. Have good surface preparation, make sure they're nice and clean, rub them down with prepsol. Sandblasting is good.

i was talking to a guy that owns an exhaust place and they always used jet hot untill one of their customers asked for HPC, now thats what they use, now he is even getting his own extrators that have been done by Jet hot re-done by HPC

I used vht paint on my headers for years. Not bad stuff, but doesn,t last.When i bought my new paemakers ,i had them coated by jet hot (about $340 from memory) pricey but looks fantastic.My colour choice was the aluminium coating.I think its well worth i

Has anyone priced either of these?
I am restoring a Monaro at the moment and have just emailed both HPC and JetHot for a quote on coating my original exhaust manifolds in a cast iron grey finish.
I'm not looking for a show finish but just a very nea

POR 15 is costly but they make a heat resistant coating that realy works well. painted the exhaust system from extractors (headers) to tail pipe in the aluminium color still looks great no discolouring chips or peeling.

I pretty sure POR15 make a paint for extractors in a couple of different colours. Have used some POR15 on my diff and looks great so far.

POR-15 would be cheap compared to the quotes I just received from Jet-Hot and HPC.
HPC want $220 (plus freight) to do a pair of 308 standard manifold in a cast iron grey colour. Jet-Hot want $305 (plus freight) for the same.
At those prices I think

Whats that stuff they use to coat bath tubs with back in the good old days. I saw an article in a street machine magazine back before I had a computer where they coat both the inside and outside with this stuff it lasts forever and is very slippery.

Bath tubs are coated in some sort of enamel product.
I remember that article, that was a bloody long time ago. Good memory.
That was back when this type of coating for automotive parts was still a fledgling industry.
