Hello

I have recently inherited a pristine HQ Station wagon from my grandfather.
When I say pristine I mean like show room pristine. I really want to keep it that way with one exception. I would like to suppliment the temperature warning light with a decent gauge so I know more about what the engine is doing.
Can anyone tell me is it possible to do this while keeping the original light active?
For sake of originality I would like to keep the red warning light working if possible but I am not sure how to install around it.
Also can anyone recommend a particular make/type of gauge for this application?

Thanks

Ken

Yup, it's possible, I looked at doing it myself, and had some advice from here about it.

Looking at a 6 cylinder... the HK thermostat cover has a fitting to put in another thermostat. Put one of these on, run a new wire into the cabin, and connect up

My HQ when I got it had the original light, but the previous owner had fitted MECHANICAL temp gauge, and had wrapped the 'bulb'(at the end the capillary tube) in an alloy saddle, which went under one of the thermostat housing bolts. Crude but it worked.
