Hi,
Does anyone know if all of the blue V8s had the same waterpump, or did the early ones differ from the later ones? What is the difference between the red and blue pump - is the pulley offset?

If they are the same throughout the range, can a later pump from a V8 VN-VSIII be used?

Early blues still ran red water pumps.

The big pulley ones were from around VH onwards (rolling change), and have a distance of 110mm from the mounting cace at the rear, to the face that the pulley bolts onto. This same pump continued thru to VS (and

Hi Mick,
Thanks a lot for the advice. I measured my pump up and its 110mm with the larger bearing housing, so its the later one.

I see there are plenty of aftermarket water pumps with sheet metal impellors, and the genuine ones have a cast impellor.

The aftermarket water pumps with sheet metal fan looking impellors are garbage. They cause overheating and cavitation in the motor which wears away your timing cover.

Go for a genuine pump.

I bought an aftermarket pump with a cast impeller and the sandwich steel plate between the pump and the timing case. Not sure what the steel plate is for. I think I bought it from Supercheap. About $80.
