Hi, I am hoping someone has a W40 in their car, or has the details I need :) (I have tried Toyomods, Boost etc with no answer...and yes, I know I should have a W50 apparently!) Does anyone have a user manual, workshop manual or other that states the oil capacity for it? Or alternatively, one suggestion I recieved was: "I have been told the manual states the oil capacity is: my haynes manual says 2.5 qts of API GL-4 or GL-5 but doesn't say if that's imperial or US quarts (0.568 or 0.956 litres)". The .956l per 1 sounds more likely? They were from cars around 74-79 era Coronas & Crowns. Sorry for the ramblings. Bottom line is the indicator/fill plug is stripped beyond help. I cant get the impact in there and I REALLY don't want to pull the engine/box out again! So I can't check level via the plug. I can fill through th shifter, but need to know volume to fill it with! Any thoughts valued! Cheers, HarryO Edited by user Wednesday, 16 May 2007 4:44:44 AM(UTC)

You're in luck! I had one of these boxes as a stop-gap after I blew a W50.
I also had the same prob sourcing the capacity. I ended up doing the "fill it till it comes out the hole" trick, and I was left with around 200ml over, from 2 x 1L bottles, so |
