are all 253 308 heads interchangable from red to blue etc ? cheers

Hi John.
Yes, but there are 4 different types if you're only counting non-performance Red/Blue/Black V8s . But you must retain the matching inlet manifold. 253 & 308 are the same for each type.
Type 1:- Red HT/HG Type 2:- Red HQ/HJ/LH/Early LX Ty |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Just a bit more help in addition to Terry's words:
You can stick a type 3 manifold on type 1 and 2 heads, but there would be no good reason to do so unless it was say a paddock basher. You can also buy a KC castings manifold that will suit all types, |
