I know these questions have been asked before - probly 100 times but i am just after some straight answers hopefully from the gurus because i have read through a heap of different opinions about this but not so much for the fc. I am currently running hr disc front and drum rear end with uc torana brakes up front. i am looking to upgrade my diff to a shortened vn keeping the discs. To match the pcd i'm led to believe hq-wb stubs/discs/calipers with hk/ht/hg steering arms are the way to go because they bolt staight up to the hr steering linkages. Ive read hq lower the car however widen the track. ive also read hq/etc discs & calipers fit straight on hr/torana stubs??? if so does this retain same track? I haven't decided on wheels yet - thinking 15's of some type - do i have to get these specially offset if track is widened?? (if so whats the best option?)If i get the diff matched to the front track are the wheels going to be the same offset to fit under rear wagon guards? i have standard guards and want it as low and as wide wheels as possible, any suggestions for 15's?. I am currently running vh40 (normal hr disc brake)booster is this sufficient for this brake setup? i understand i have to go to a 1" master cylinder. Is it different proportioning valve for rear discs? Also does anyone know any engineers who are familiar with this era and type of work in the brissie area? Are shortened diffs/axles legal in QLD (heard different things once again)? any advice is very much appreciated!

VN is too wide try VB-VK. Any mods to brakes are targets for engineers. NO Commodore stud patterns are suitable for HQ or earlier hubs the pcd is not the same.
Tried talking to the authorities there? they have to pass it, you might as well be on the same

HQ-Wb discs and calipers do bolt straight onto LH-UC stubs. You can also use HQ-WB stubs exactly where LH-UC stubs are used but the "axle" sits 3/4" higher effectively lowering the car by that much.
From memory HQ discs have a very similar track to Toran
