My brother dropped of a 1990 Holden Calais Vn V8
to my house. It hasnt been on the road for 6 months. Hes given it to me. Its a nice v8, but i know nothing about cars but i was wondering what i should do first to see if the cars in good condition or not. Can anyone come up with a list of things to do please? greatly appreciate it.

check tyers ,brakes ,steering [noise while turning ,play in the steer wheel] ,all suspension [it might look worn] ,windscreen [cracks] ,oil leaks motor and trans ,seat belts fraid on egdes ,rust in the boot [spare wheel well ,gutter around boot seal] and

would i have to take it in to a mechanic to check all these things or can i do it myself?

most things can do yourself maybe the suspension and steering
done by someone who knows. not worth the risk of an accident
