ive got a wb statesman dash, silly me wasnt thinking when i bought a VDO oil sender for the gauge i asked for a sender for 253 red motor. are the senders the same through the models or do they have a different resistance value's for different dash clusters. when the ignition is "ON" the guage reads 2 bars then drops once started and the light comes on. (it's a new engine and yes there is oil pressure)

also the temp guage doesnt work. i tried putting a 20ohm resistor in but the guage goes to hot straight away.

i'm told it's common for the internal resistor to blow in the guages. are the oil and temp running from the same resistor and if so what is the resistance needed for the fix, or have i got other problems?
cheers craig

Hi coley13.

The sender matches the instruments. not the engine. In WB the Statesman instruments are totally different to the commercials (in appearance & electrically). The thread in the engine is the same for all Holden V8 engines.

The oil & temp s
