looking at a HQ with a 308 with enine no starting with NT++++, I take it is a Nasco replacement engine? thanks in advance Kevin

Yes it is. These were consecutive so the numerical part doesn't mean much. Plus they could also have sat around for a while before being used.

have to check the date code yet, but it will be interesting to see how much later/earlier it is to the cars build date, as it was supposedly fitted under warranty in 72, will also check which id is cast into the block, eg; none, HP or 308....

It will be 308 cast. NT didnt start until HQ was released. Early stuff (including HP) was numbered differently, and the only blank "308" blocks I know of are the later ones fitted post the 5.7 stroker mods to the castings. If it was fitted in 1972 it will

if its date coded around late 9/74 into 75 and its for sale and tri pattern i would be interested if it was for sale....

Byron the engine is date coded 9 August 75 & was a repco change over from around 1988/89, but still going strong, sorry classic not for sale....

the car is currently 4 deep, it will be a while...
