Hi I finally managed to get my wires sorted. The HEI needed 12volts all the time but the old wires were on giving it 8volts while running. They did give 12v while starting.

Heres how I fixed it in the ignition box on the column is a small pink wire and look closely it says resistance no cut. But I cut it lol. And also on the same switch is a yellow wire. I connected the yellow and pink wire together . What this does is flows 12v down the yellow wire at all times.

Before the pink wire met up with the yellow wire some where before the old coil and when car was running the power was going through the pink wire, now it goes from the cut pink wire and straight into the yellow one. Car runs like a dream..

The inhibitor switch on the TH 400 with HQ-HZ type factory shifter has 2 plugs on it the green ones for reverse lights.. Which I found on the bottom of my column from the old 3 on the tree. I connected them under carpet to the switch.. Reverse lights work :).

The other 2 wires purple from memory are to stop you starting the car in gear.
I ran the wire from the startmotor( I traced this with multimeter into the car to ignition box on column) I cut this wire ran it to the inhibitor switch on the auto shifter and back to the starter motor.. Hopefully this switch is tuff enough to handle the power going to starter:?????

Now I found a transmission leak, Well I found trans oil on the ground :( Thats one of my next missons .

I also have to tidy up the wires as I un taped some of them to make them shorter or direct them in the right direction. Eg starter is on the driver side now etc.

The thing about experience is that by the time you have it its to late..

The wire going to the starter doesn't have to handle the starter power. All it has to achieve is throwing the solenoid to engage the starter gear in the ring gear, which also has the effect of running all of the power from the battery through the starter
