Hey all.

introducing myself, my name is Aaron and i have an grandpa spec 1971 HG sedan. the main reason i bought it was it was dual fuel, so it is a nice cheap classic to drive on sunny days.

When i bought it off my mate's old man, it had a fresh stock 186 and column trimatic.

The crappy stock timing gear stripped on the freeway, so i had a new block rebuilt as follows ->

+60 thou overbore (192ci)
flat top HE pistons
starfire rods
balanced bottom end
JP oil pump
new water and oil pump
manley swage-end pushrods
black elec dizzy.

i had a 149 head ported out with the chambers neatened up to improve swirl and squish. this has ->

double valve springs
new bronze valve guides and datsun "L" series valve stem seals
stainless valves (2.02in inlet, black inlets as the exhaust) - not much chamber face left!
10.5:1 static CR.

i have fitted a set of extractors, cain 2bbl manifold and a 500 holley with the floats, bowls, chokes and venturis removed and the body of the carb has been tapped for a pair of power valves for a straight LPG setup.

it runs an OMVL convertor and about a 14:1 A/F ratio.

the front end has been rebuilt with all new BJs and rod ends, wheel bearings and brakes, incl booster and MC.

it has been lowered all round on stock rims with 195/75 tyres for a sleeper look.

the inside has had a re-trim at one stage in it's life with tan velour seats and roof lining - still retaining the front bench and column shift. it's still in good condition so no plans to change it just yet.

rust has popped up in the passenger side Y frame, so if anyone has any spare patch panels (...i can hear you laughing!...) or know where i can get them (or an alternative fix) then i would appreciate hearing from you.

i'll put some pics up soon.

cheers.

if i wanted a V8 in it, i would have bought one in the first place
