Just picked up a WB panelvan with a blue 202 in it and it has a miss at idle. The motor is sound, no lifter or tappet rattle at all (very surprised)carby (variejet) has been recoed about 12 month ago, plugs, leads, cap and button been done in same period of time. Van is an auto and miss is more noticable when in gear but dissapears when you start driven (plenty of power and runs well for a 202). I have swaped all the leads plugs button and cap out of my daughters car which is all new (bought 2 days ago) and the miss is still there, so that should rule out electrical. Now this brought me back to the carby: take the air filter off and it stalls, feels as though it surges when sitting at a constant speed on flat road (no surge up or down hill), feels as though it has a slight flat spot when you first accelerate but this is on a reco carby (done by mitchel carby and efi) so Im wondering if it is the carby or not or somthing else I may have missed? So all help and suggestions welcome.........

Does sound like carby. Is there a cam in the motor that's not stock that you don't know about? I'm assuming those carbs have separate idle and main circuits? Stalling with the filter off isn't amazingly uncommon as it leans the mix out i think, and at idl |

I thought cam as well but the other day it started raising and falling in idal speed, not fast, just up then over a 30 second period slowly down. Can not see anything visualy sticking on the out side so think I will pull it off and give it a clean and see |
